There is a natural compound that is cheap, common and could provide significant heath benefits for a number of diseases including Alzheimer’s disease and a number of other diseases of the brain. So what is this compound?

Surprisingly it’s nicotine. Although Nicotine has suffered from an image problem due to its association with smoking, the fact is nicotine in its pure form is safe and non toxic and is part of the natural food chain.

Nicotine is in fact found in many common foods such as chili peppers, cauliflower tomatoes and potatoes, as well as many teas.

Nicotine has a bad reputation due to its link with cigarette smoking, but the fact is it is some of the other 4,000 chemicals that are consumed in smoking that are the killers not nicotine.

Today, many companies are conducting research into nicotine and its affect on the brain. It has been known for a long time that it improves concentration, attention and has a beneficial affect on mood.

It is this affect on the brain that has led scientists to look at Nicotine’s potential in diseases including Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s disease Prevention

Alzheimer’s disease occurs when the degeneration of various structures in the brain occurs, with the development of amyloid plaques and neuro-fibrillary tangles then deficiencies of acetylcholine and other neurotransmitters also can occur.

New research indicates that nornicotine, produced when nicotine is absorbed into the body, prevents the formation of protein lumps, or plaques, in the brain area that are associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s disease alleviating the symptoms

Scientists are also looking at nicotine to treat Alzheimer’s disease when it has already occurred. Tests have already been carried out to repair damaged memory ability in rats.

Nicotine is thought to help alleviate the effects of Alzheimer’s by attaching to receptors of the brain acetylcholine, a chemical important in learning and memory, of which a loss of is common in Alzheimer’s disease.

While medical research is still inconclusive in many areas, it does appear that Nicotine has potential to help with a number of diseases that include brain function.

In addition to Alzheimer’s disease, medical research is being undertaken into Nicotine’s affect on suffers of:

Depression, Parkinson’s disease, attention disorders and Schizophrenia.

Many drug companies are researching the possibility of treatments that include nicotine to combat the above diseases and alleviate the symptoms.

Nicotine needs to be delivered in its pure form and companies have already looked at and launched nicotine in water which is a safe delivery method and other products look set to follow.

After being treated with suspicion for many years due to its association with smoking nicotine is being seen in a different light.

In its natural form it is safe and non toxic and not only does not cause disease, it may actually have huge potential as a medical treatment.

As research intensifies expect to here more news on nicotine in relation to a number of diseases including Alzheimer’s. It maybe that in the near future nicotine could be seen in a completely different light and not simply associated with smoking.

Are you thinking about quitting smoking using Chantix? Quit smoking with this new pill? Chantix is one of the newest quit smoking drugs available but is Chantix safe? It seems everywhere you look these days you see an advertisement for Chantix. Every time you turn on the television there is another commercial for Chantix. The one thing I cannot help but notice when I see these commercials is the numerous side effects of Chantix that they list.

I have friends and loved ones who want to quit smoking and are considering using Chantix to help. I decided to do a little research into this new smoking cessation drug to learn more about its side effects. So I hit the web and searched for information about Chantix. What I discovered was quite alarming.

To start off I went right to the Chantix official website to see what it had to say about the side effects of this drug, I learned that Chantix is a non-nicotine drug that works by targeting the nicotine receptors in the brain, attaches to them, and keeps nicotine from reaching them. The list of side potential side effects is amazingly long.

The most common side effect is nausea which happens in 30% of people who take Chantix. There are also other physical side effects including sleep problems, constipation, gas, and vomiting. There is even the possibility for serious skin reactions, some of which can be life threatening.

What I found even scarier was the mental and emotional side effects. These include anxiety, panic, anger, hallucinations, paranoia, and even suicidal thoughts. It was incredible to me that a drug to quit smoking had so many frightening side effects.

Chantix has a success rate of 44%. I wonder if less than a 50-50 chance of quitting smoking is worth taking a chance of experiencing some of these side effects when there are other stop smoking methods available. If, like me, you are wondering; is Chantix safe, you may want to try a different stop smoking method before you risk the side effects of Chantix.

In my research I also learned about a better alternative to Chantix. Quit smoking methods like NLP are all natural with no side effects. NLP also has a much higher success rate; 97.2% in a recently conducted test. Programs like the Quit Smoking Today program have created specially formatted NLP recordings that make cravings to smoke disappear just by listening to them.

When you embark on your search to learn how to stop smoking pot one of the things that you must be keen to understand is how marijuana affects the brain and how this in turn affects your addiction and your choices surrounding smoking and quitting.

Marijuana has a chemical component called THC which most pot smokers know of. It is this chemical that causes the feelings of a high that can mellow you out and can also cause paranoia and panic in some users also. It is the chemical that you are etste3d for in a drug test also. THC in marijuana however is NOT addictive like nicotine from cigarettes are or others chemicals from harder drugs.

So how do people become addicted to a non-addictive substance then?

When we do any activity that causes a high of some sorts we stimulate the reward center of our brain which controls what we believe is rewarding and fulfilling. Over a long period of time smoking marijuana often we become wired to treat marijuana as a needed ‘reward’ so when you feel down it will be the first thing you think of to get you out of a funk. It also becomes habitual just as other rewarding acts become in people’s lives.

So what happens when you try to quit smoking Pot?

Without this reward you will feel something is missing and you get a mental if not a physical craving for marijuana; you want it but you do not NEED it. This does not mean you are weak willed but it can often be confusing when you consciously know pot is not good for you anymore but you feel that without it you might be even worse off.

To this effect you must ‘rewire’ your brain to realize that you can be rewarded and fulfilled through other things. Exercise, hobbies, social interaction and many other things can replace this nagging voice that keeps telling you to smoke pot. This is a major part in plotting out your plan to stop smoking weed.

For more information on How to Stop Smoking Pot click below for a review of a guide by an ex-addict who knows what you are going through and exactly how to beat it.

Cannabis Coach Review
